Nicki Minaj expressed her distaste for the Artificial Intelligence-generated "Super Bass" 1970s cover that one of her fans made.
In a now-deleted X post, Minaj quote-tweeted the viral 1970-style disco cover of "Super Bass," which was generated by AI.
"I hate yall so bad for this," she simply said, referring to the cover of her hit song.
Minaj wasn notably known for the fast delivery of the hard-hitting bubblegum pop-rap anthem. However, the disco-infused "Super Bass" cover was the stark opposite because of the song's slow tempo.
While Minaj didn't like the AI-generated cover, her fans clearly did. Several Barbz replied to the creator's tweet, saying that the song could've been a hit in the 1970s if it was released at the time.
"Mind you this stayed no.1 for 30weeks, replaced Elvis Presley and blocked the Beatles," a user joked, alluding to the song's possible placement on the Billboard Hot 100 chart if it was released in the same era.
"So basically Nicki would've shined no matter what era she was in," another Barb proclaimed.
"My grandmother was a background singer on this song . She told me the story of how the shot up the juke joint," another jokingly claimed.

The Queen of Rap has since been wary of using Artificial Intelligence in music. In April 2024, Minaj, along with other artists, signed an open letter for responsible practice on AI-generated music.
"We, the undersigned members of the artist and songwriting communities, call on AI developers, technology companies, platforms and digital music services to cease the use of artificial intelligence to infringe upon and devalue the rights of human artists," the signed letter wrote. "Make no mistake: we believe that, when used responsibly, AI has enormous potential to advance human creativity and in a manner that enables the development and growth of new and exciting experiences for music fans everywhere."
Singers like Minaj, Billie Eilish, Katy Perry, Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow, Norah Jones, Jon Bon Jovi, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, and more have signed the letter.
"Unfortunately, some platforms and developers are employing AI to sabotage creativity and undermine artists, songwriters, musicians and rightsholders," the petition continued. "This assault on human creativity must be stopped. We must protect against the predatory use of AI to steal professional artists' voices and likenesses, violate creators' rights, and destroy the music ecosystem."
