According to McKinney's lawyer, Michelle A. Caiola, after the sexual assault encounter in 2003 at a Men's Fashion Week event in New York, McKinney had attempted suicide and went on a downward spiral since.
In the legal filing obtained by The Miami Herald, McKinney was tipped into a "tailspin of anxiety and depression. In 2004, McKinney attempted suicide and was eventually hospitalized, which was described to have "altered the trajectory" of her career.
The filing revealed that the rising model, 22 years old at the time, was invited to the 2003 Men's Fashion Week in New York. Flying from Miami, Florida, to New York, an unidentified fashion designer styled her to impress the Bad Boy Records founder.
McKinney, clad in designer clothes, met Diddy at Cipriani Downtown. Seated directly across Diddy, the filing revealed that the night was marred with suggestive sexual remarks and excessive alcohol.

In the promise of advancing her career, Diddy even gave the model his phone number. However, when McKinney joined the rapper in his studio, things took a wild turn. The model recalled being in the presence of men passing around marijuana and alcohol, even suspecting that her drink was laced.
In the filing, McKinney described how Diddy assaulted her and made her perform non-consensual acts.
"Combs, then, shoved her head down to his crotch before commanding her to 'suck it.' Plaintiff refused, but Combs pushed her head down onto his phallus and forced her to perform oral sex on him," the filing read, as quoted by Rolling Stone.
The model then woke up in a taxi hours later, disoriented and terrorized, forced to just take in what happened.
The filing claims that the sexual assault was an act of gender-motivated violence. The lawsuit claimed that McKinney was "humiliated and traumatized" by Diddy's physical attack and that she was "blackballed" in the modeling industry due to the rapper's extensive network.
McKinney's lawsuit also alleged that the alleged victim also experienced substance abuse and intimacy issues as a result of that fateful night in 2003 with Diddy. Her trauma also contributed to the downfall of her marriage.
