Bernie Taupin revealed that his frequent collaborator, Elton John, will release a new album soon because it's all recorded.

Speaking to The Sun at the Other Songs Live event in London, Taupin dished out the new album news.

"Elton and I have an album coming out very soon, but I daren't say anything about it because I'm under strict orders to keep schtum," he disclosed. "It's all done and recorded."

Taupin detailed further what fans could expect in the upcoming album.

"I think it's quite brilliant and quite contemporary and it will certainly surprise a lot of people and excite a lot of people and hopefully be successful," he added.

The news of a new Elton John album has been around since February 2024, when insiders tipped off the same outlet that the EGOT-winning singer was "keen" to release a new album by Summer.

"It's all been very top secret but Elton is back in the studio working on a new album. Time frames are always movable but the fourth quarter has been pencilled in terms of a release date," the insiders said at the time. "He adores music and that will never change but the desire to be as busy as he was has waned. Elton will still have a Rocket Hour radio show on Apple Music and finger is very much still on the pulse; he just wants to slow down a bit and spend the time with his family but the new album is coming."

John last released an album in 2019, The Lockdown Sessions, which featured stacked collaborations from Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Rina Sawayama, Ed Sheeran, Charlie Puth, Eddie Veder, Nicki Minaj, and even Stevie Wonder.

Taupin has previously discussed John's work and its future after he famously capped off his touring in 2023 at Glastonbury.

"Who knows - he may not do anything anymore, but we'll definitely make another record," Taupin told People. "There's no doubt about that. Just because he isn't touring doesn't mean he is fading to black. He's still going to be very much active in other areas."

Both Taupin and John were awarded the Gershwin Prize in 2024.

For the Librarian of Congress, Carla Hayden, John, and Taupin have written "some of the most memorable songs of our lives."

"Their careers stand out for the quality and broad appeal of their music and their influence on their fellow artists. More than 50 years ago, they came from across the pond to win over Americans and audiences worldwide with their beautiful songs and rock anthems. We're proud to honor Elton and Bernie with the Gershwin Prize for their incredible impact on generations of music lovers," she added in a statement.
