Mel B Talks Spice Girls Fighting And What Made The 90s Group So Successful

Remember when the Spice Girls briefly dominated pop music? Sure, they weren't exactly everyone's cup of tea but they were solid enough to spawn a few world tours, and all the while the ladies knew that this group wouldn't be their final destination. According to a recent interview with Mel B each of the ladies viewed being in the group as a way to springboard towards what they really wanted to do with their lives.

The Spice Girls were comprised of Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Chisholm (Sporty Spice) and of course, Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice). As the ladies reached the height of their fame in 1998, Halliwell simply quit and walked away mid-tour causing quite a bit of bad blood, Mel B told Larry King in a recent interview,

"We fought like cats and dogs. When Geri left the group, it was bad. She left on my birthday, and didn't tell anybody... Just didn't show up. We had the rest of the tour. The American part of the tour. We had a five-year plan that got shortened after three years."

According to Mel B, she eventually got over her upset with Halliwell but she will still mention it to her when she bumps into each other. She also challenges notions that the ladies relied heavily on their sex appeal to sell records and tickets. The Spice Girls were put together because of their diversity and she maintains that it was their uniqueness that helped them to resonate with fans. Most teen girls of the 90's could look up to one of them as a cool, stylistic role model and as long as they liked just one of the ladies then the group's sales were bound to be crazy.

The Spice Girls had millions of fans, were you one of them? Who did you relate to the most if so?
