Ventura took to Instagram to post a thoughtful message, thanking the internet for supporting her through this difficult time. She shared that she was beginning to heal from her abuse, and emphasized the importance of believing victims when they come forward.
"Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet. The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning," she wrote.
Ventura and Combs dated from 2007 to 2018, starting their relationship when she was 21 years old and he was nearly 40.
She continued, writing that "Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past."
She took a moment to thank those supporting her throughout this tough time.
"Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to take this matter seriously. My only ask is that EVERYONE open your heart to believing victims the first time."
Ventura first came forward against her ex-partner in November 2023, when she alleged that Combs had physically and sexually assaulted her, including raping her in 2018. Combs' attorney denied the allegations.
However, once the 2016 video of Combs abusing Ventura in a hotel hallway emerged, the rap mogul shared an apology video on social media. He described his assaulting Ventura as "inexcusable" and said he was "disgusted" both today and when he "did it." Combs claimed that he "sought out professional help. I got into going to therapy, going to rehab."
His apology was not well-received.
"Combs' most recent statement is more about himself than the many people he has hurt. When Cassie and multiple other women came forward, he denied everything and suggested that his victims were looking for a payday," wrote Meredith Firetog, an attorney for Ventura.
Ventura's post continues, detailing how she felt "powerless."
"It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in. I offer my hand to those that are still living in fear. Reach out to our people, don't cut them off. No one should carry this weight alone," she wrote.
"This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you. Love Always, Cassie," she concluded.
