Jelly Roll has admitted he's not completely clean. He still indulges in his drug of choice, marijuana, and he says that helps keep him sober.

"I get in trouble for this, all the time, but my stance on marijuana will always be the same: I believe marijuana has helped me in so many regards, with my anxiety. This is a hot button topic, but, truly, marijuana has kept me sober," he says in an interview with Taste of Country.

The "Save Me" singer even took it a bit further by suggesting without marijuana he'd be abusing other far more dangerous substances. "I think a world without weed, Jelly Roll's drinking codeine and popping Xanax and snorting cocaine again, but a world with weed, I'll be alright."

Though Jelly Roll recently said he's been working on getting healthy in preparation for a half-marathon, smoking marijuana still works for him. However, he knows that not everyone trying to stay sober can indulge in marijuana and stay otherwise clean.

"I know that I have friends that don't do that. I have friends that are in the program that are totally against any kind of mind-altering anything," he explains in the interview. "I respect that. I have so much respect for those people. That's just not how my sobriety worked out."

Aside from marijuana, Jelly Roll also admitted in the interview that he will on a rare occasion also have a drink. He told TOC it has happened three times in 2024 at three different awards shows -- the ACM Awards last week, the CMT Awards last month, and the iHeart Radio Awards in April.

Jelly Roll continues to be on a roll on the charts. His latest single, "Halfway to Hell" is moving up the Billboard Country Airplay chart and is primed to become his fourth-straight No. 1 at country radio.

He also debuted a new song, "Liar," at the 2024 ACM Awards and last month's Stagecoach Festival in Indio, Calif.

"Liar" apparently is just one of 150 songs Jelly Roll has written for consideration on his next album. "I've never been more inspired," he adds.

He also performed another new song, "I Am Not OK," about his mental health struggles, on The Voice earlier this week.
