If you've been on TikTok at all within the past few months, you've undoubtedly heard country singer Dasha's hit single, "Austin."
The lyrics are etched into the brains of several social media users, with any TikTok fan easily being able to recite: "Did your boots stop workin'? / Did your truck break down? / Did you burn through money? / Did you ex find out?"
The breakup anthem has already been used in over 700 thousand posts on the short-form video app, with many people trying to master the line dance associated with it or applying it to their own breakup. The viral moment was part of Dasha's plan all along.
"I was so genuinely excited because the plan was actually working," she explains exclusively to Music Times. "The line dance was created to get more ears and eyes on the song so to see the dance do what I wanted it to do felt so great. Right off the bat, it hit over a million views the first night."

The line dance helped skyrocket the song's recognizability as Dasha's star continued to rise. Since it took off, the singer-songwriter has performed on national broadcasts like Jimmy Kimmel Live and the CMT Awards.
Throughout the song's popularity, Dasha is making one thing clear: she's more than just a TikTok star. The 24-year-old has already released her second album, What Happens Now?, which includes 10 more tracks of country bangers.
Growing up listening to country legends like Dolly Parton and Taylor Swift, Dasha has been writing music for most of her life. The record displays a seasoned hitmaker, starting strong on the strong path that she has already set out for herself.
"I want people who've only heard 'Austin' through TikTok to know that I have been writing songs for over 15 years now. It's all about the songwriting for me. I have so much more music and so much more music coming out soon," she reveals
As more fans add "Austin" to their summer playlist and continue to master the TikTok line dance, they can expect even more hits from Dasha in the future.
"'Austin' is just the tip of the iceberg so if you like it, dive on in girl."
