Pearl Jam surprised fans at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival by bringing out actor Bradley Cooper as a surprise guest alongside the band.

This unexpected collaboration comes after Cooper revealed the influence of Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder on his preparation for the film, despite initial reservations from Vedder himself.

In a video shared on YouTube, the actor and the band performed the song "Maybe It's Time," an official track from the 2018 movie A Star Is Born, which features him as Jackson Maine and Lady Gaga as Ally Maine.

Written by Jason Isbell, the track he played at the music event was one of the other solo songs he performed for the film.

The recent news comes after Cooper revealed that Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder was involved in preparing for his role in the Academy Award-nominated movie, saying they spent "four or five days" together.

"He gave me minor, little things that only musicians know about what to do just aesthetically... He was wonderful. I would send him songs that I was working on. He's a wonderful friend," the actor said.

When Vedder appeared on The Howard Stern Show for an interview in 2020, he initially warned Cooper against taking the role.

In his sentiments, movies surrounding the theme of rock and roll never seem to get it right.

"I don't think anyone can pull it off... It's not that you can't. If anyone could, it might be you. But I would really think this through," he said.

Regardless, Cooper still took the role and even directed the entire film. Vedder's mind changed upon watching A Star is Born, and he said he was "blown away" by the movie.

The film amassed massive success after its release. It garnered eight Academy Award nominations, and the track "Shallow," which featured Cooper and Lady Gaga's vocals, won the best original song category.

In February 2024, Cooper revealed in an interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation that the role of Ally Maine was initially pitched to Beyoncé before it went to Lady Gaga.

Gaga eventually landed the role after the actor watched her perform at a benefit concert. He said he knew the character of Ally Maine was perfect for her the moment he saw her sing.

"It just blew the doors off of the whole place, and it was in that moment where it was like, 'That's it. What was I even thinking?'" he recalled.
