Billie Eilish's new album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, couldn't knock Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Society from the top of the Billboard 200, but the album's first-week performance is still pretty impressive.
The album debuted with the biggest weekly equivalent sales number -- 339,000 according to Luminate -- of Eilish's career, according to Billboard. Not only that, all 10 of the album's songs have debuted in the top 40 of Billboard's Hot 100.
"Lunch" leads the way at No. 5, followed by "Chihiro" at No. 12, "Birds of a Feather" at No. 13, "Wildflower" at No. 17, and "Skinny" at No. 18. Eilish's impressive showing continues with "L'Amour de Ma Vie" at No. 22, "The Greatest" at No. 24, "Blue" at No. 25, "The Diner" at No. 31 and "Bittersuite" at No. 36.
An extra bonus for Eilish, the No. 5 entry by "Lunch" is her highest debut on the Hot 100 ever, topping the No. 6 debut by "My Future" in 2020.
One area where Eilish was able to top Swift was on the Vinyl Albums chart, as Hit Me Hard and Soft sold 90,000 copies in its debut week, giving the "Lunch" singer her fifth consecutive chart-topper on that list.
With Swift, Eilish also scored a noteworthy accomplishment -- that albums by both singers topped the 300,000 equivalent album units, according to Luminate. It's the first time in eight years that's happened. Swift's The Tortured Poets Department holds the No. 1 spot for the fifth consecutive week, with 378,000 equivalent units.
The last time two albums broke the 300,000 mark was in the chart week of May 21, 2016 when Drake's Views entered the chart at the top with 1.039 units followed by Beyoncé's Lemonade, which dropped from No. 1 to No. 2 with 321,000 units.
