Kim Kardashian is standing firm in her choice to feature her daughter, North West, as a child actor.
North was selected to portray Young Simba in Disney's The Lion King live-to-film concert at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles during Memorial Day weekend.
However, this decision drew backlash from online critics who questioned her suitability for the role, suggesting she only received it due to her parents' fame and money.
In defiance of the online negativity, Kardashian is combatting the criticism by sharing behind-the-scenes snapshots of her ten-year-old daughter in costume from the performance, prompting more people to say negative things about her and North.
There is no denying, though, that North looks very cute and beautiful in these images. However, this is overshadowed by the commenters' disappointment with her.
In the captivating images, North is seen wearing an oversized yellow hoodie, fluffy slippers, and a baggy robe, representing the Young Simba role she was cast for.
The costume, designed by ERL, reportedly came from her team rather than the event organizers. This is another contention of the critics, claiming it was a massive form of disrespect.
However, true to her fashion-forward flair, the ten-year-old confidently strikes various poses, some standing upright while others see her stylishly reclining on the floor against a grey background.
One particularly striking shot showcases her sporting matching shades, adding an extra touch of allure to her ensemble.
The comments section is mostly negative, though. Some claim that North West should be spared criticism because she's also a victim.
Some even claimed she's likely to be scarred for life because of what her parents pulled, which is to make her perform without proper training and make her believe that she is worthy of the role without letting her do the hard work first.
One said, "Poor girl, the embarrassment of this performance might scar her for years."
Another wrote, "You failed her. and used her. you did not protect her." One said that North West is too young to know better, but is going to feel bad about this in the future.
"She's gonna resent you for this when she grows up lol," the commenter predicts.
Another shared, "I think the only people praising her for this are folks in your circle. I just think it would do her some good earning a role so she can share the same respect and heartbreak as all the other kids who auditioned (that were much more qualified)."
The general theme of the comments is that North West must be defended not because she performed well for her age but because she's too young to be the brunt of such criticisms.
Worse, there are other kids her age who had to be let down despite their talents and hard work during the audition process.
To recall, insiders said that nepotism would have been okay if North honestly had the talent.
However, insiders said they witnessed Kardashian buying the role, and other kids had no chance. . They said that the 10-year-old was chosen "100 percent" because of her family's connection with the showrunners, who produce both "The Kardashians" and "The Lion King Musical."
"The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl and The Kardashians are both produced by the same production company, Fulwell 73 Production," the insider told the Daily Mail.
The source also clarified that North did not compete against other child actors for the role because it was handed to her in exchange for publicity.
The insider continued, "They were hoping to draw publicity for this, which they did. But North didn't have to compete against anyone else and anyone else who would have auditioned would have not gotten it anyways."
