JoJo Siwa addressed allegations that her latest single, "Karma," was "stolen" from Emeline, confirming that she doesn't personally write her own music.

After refuting claims of "stealing" the track to TMZ, the former Dance Moms star turned pop sensation, aged 21, clarified on TikTok that she relies on a team of songwriters to create her songs.

'I don't WRITE my songs. I SING them. I have an incredible team of songwriters that write songs and pitch them to me to see if [they] wanna make the song mine!!' she explained in her post.

She continued: 'It's kinda like when you buy clothes... you don't "MAKE" it, but it's yours after you buy it! They also ALWAYS get their credit and, of course, their check.'

'I do enjoy the writing process, however for me as an artist that is not my specialty so I like to work with different songwriters to sing their lyrics, add a feeling to it, and ultimately bring the song to life!' the Dancing with the Stars star said.

@itsjojosiwa Couldn't do my job with out my incredible team of song writers... Solly, Emeline, Meghan Trainor, Matthew Koma, Rock Mafia, The Futuristics, and so many more. ♬ CHOOSE UR FIGHTER - JoJo Siwa

Fans on the comment section however keep repeating that they can hear Emeline's vocals on "Karma" so this is not a good explanation.

Despite accusations that Siwa "stole" Emeline's song, bolstered by Emeline's apparent lack of knowledge about its inclusion on Siwa's album, an artist generally doesn't need permission for their song to be covered. They only need to obtain a mechanical license to ensure the writer and original publisher receive appropriate royalties from any profits.

However, since Emeline never officially released "Choose Your Own Fighter," some speculated she may have sold the song to Siwa's label, leading to its eventual inclusion on the upcoming album.

Currently, there's insufficient publicly available information to definitively determine what transpired. Nonetheless, internet speculation persists, and fans of Emeline, who has been rapidly building a strong following, express frustration that a song they anticipated from her is being released by Siwa instead.

When the controversy broke, many even said that JoJo Siwa just pulled a "Jennifer Lopez."

@JoJo Siwa is the new Jlo. Her team used @EMELINE's vocals & reference recording overlayed 98% on top of Jojo's background vocals, and passing it as her own. #jojosiwa #emeline #chooseyourfighter #karma #jojo #siwa #newalbum #jlo

Another said that it does not matter if she bought the song, what's wrong is that she's claiming it to be hers.

The person took to TikTok to write, "The problem is JoJo is acting like she wrote this and is saying it's about her exes."
