Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" is a strong contender for the song of the summer, having reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 1 spots on Spotify's Global, U.S. and U.K. charts.
And before the summer's over, Carpenter will have a new album to back it up. Short n' Sweet, her sixth full-length effort, will be released on Aug. 23, it was announced Monday (June 3). The album will be previewed with a new single, set to drop on Thursday (June 6).
"This project is quite special to me and I hope it'll be something special to you too. I also have a surprise coming for you on Thursday night so keep an eye out," Carpenter said in a statement.
She also shared on Instagram the cover art for the new album, which features the blonde-haired, blue-eyed singer looking over her shoulder, which bears a red lipstick kiss imprint. The back cover shows Carpenter's back, which has the album's title "Short n' Sweet" written in script on the back of her right shoulder.
Fans reacted positively to the news on Instagram, with one writing, "Can it be August 23rd already?"
Another wrote, "Grammys will be CRAZY," while a third added, "I just know this album is going to be a MASTERPIECE."
Along with the success of "Espresso," Carpenter performed on Saturday Night Live in May and at Coachella in April.
Carpenter's career has been gaining momentum over the last few years, thanks to the success of singles like "Skinny Dippy," "Fast Times," "Vicious" and "Nonsense" featured on her fifth album, Emails I Can't Send, released in July 2022. A deluxe edition of the album, titled Emails I Can't Send Fwd, included another hit, "Feather."
