Bebe Rexha is enforcing stricter and safer working conditions for herself after kicking out fans at her Wisconsin concert.
The 34-year-old singer paused her concert mid-performance to signal security personnel to escort several concertgoers out of the venue. She found out that they were throwing objects onstage, a red flag for her after her injury in 2023.
In fan-captured videos going viral on social media, Rexha can be heard saying: "Out, out. Or if you want to hit me in the face, I pressed charges to the other guy -- I would love to become richer. So go right ahead."
As fans cheered, she clarified: "I'm not inviting that, please. It was just a joke."
As security escorted out the fans, the people cheered, prompting the "I'm A Mess" singer to continue her performance.
Rexha has been very vigilant for her safety during concerts after her 2023 incident, where a fan threw a cell phone at her onstage. Rexha collapsed onstage at the Rooftop of Pier 17 after being directly hit in the face. Shortly after, her team escorted her out of the stage, rushing her into the hospital.
The 27-year-old Manalapan, New Jersey native Nicolas Malvagna was arrested and charged with felony assault. Malvagna said he was "trying to see" if he "could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny."
"The individual was taken into custody on scene and removed to the 1st Precinct for arrest processing. The aided female was removed by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition," the New York Police Department said in a statement.
The singer gave an update shortly after receiving several stitches on her head, including a black eye. In a TikTok video, the singer sang her hit song "I'm Good (Blue)" as she showed her injured face to the audience.
Days after the harrowing incident, Rexha performed in Philadelphia in high spirits.
"Are we gonna have a good show tonight? Yes, we f**king are! Can we let people slow us down, Philly? No," she asked the screaming crowd. "Just no phones on my face tonight, please. I beg of you. Thank you, Philly."
