Miley Cyrus wants to return to acting after years of making music. In an interview with W Magazine, the Hannah Montana star revealed that she'd be interested in acting in front of the camera again, but under one condition.

"So, I would like to act again. But the role would really need to be right, since it's kind of hard for people to see past me and buy into a character," Cyrus explained.

According to her, the character she would play has to be either an extension of herself or someone with a personality that can conquer hers.

"I would need a character that is bigger than me," the "Can't Be Tamed" singer declared.

Cyrus has an extensive filmography that stems back to the 2003 Tim Burton film Big Fish, where she played Ruthie. In 2006, Cyrus landed her biggest and most iconic role yet, Miley Stewart, a.k.a. Hannah Montana, in Disney's Hannah Montana.

The role launched Cyrus' career to enormous heights, making her the most popular teen actress of her generation. She also crossed over to The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and the Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana.

Eventually, when Cyrus stepped out of her Disney persona, she landed on bigger television, including Crisis in Six Scenes and an episode of Black Mirror.

Cyrus has also done extensive voice acting in the past for projects such as The Replacements, The Emperor's New School, Bolt, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Stone Quackers, and Human Resources.

She also had film projects like Hannah Montana: The Movie, The Last Song, LOL, So Undercover, and Drive-Away Dolls, among many others.

Should Cyrus return to the big screen again, she would be one of the many singers and pop stars today who have retraced their origins in acting.

Fellow Disney alum Selena Gomez has been making strides in television and film. For her role in Only Murders in the Building, she has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. In May 2024, she was awarded the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez.

Ariana Grande, who started her mainstream career as an actress in Nickelodeon's Victorious, is starring as Glinda on the highly-awaited mega-movie musical of 2024, Wicked, with Tony-winning actress Cynthia Erivo.
