It appears that both Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Garner are harboring secret ill feelings toward each other because of Ben Affleck. Despite claims that the two are actually friends and have each other's back, seeing that they similarly care about Affleck's well-being, new reports are claiming otherwise.
Jennifer Garner is reportedly concerned about the potential impact of Affleck's rumored marital problems with Lopez. She allegedly thinks it's all Lopez's fault.
According to a source, Garner, who shares children with the Elektra star, "would never tell Ben, 'I told you it wouldn't work out,' but she does blame J. Lo for the pressure she's put Ben under."
The insider added, "She sees how Ben struggles with keeping up with J. Lo's very public lifestyle," referring to Affleck's relationship with the "On the Floor" singer, whom he married in 2022.
Despite finalizing her divorce from Affleck in 2018, Garner has attempted to stay out of her ex's relationship issues.
However, she remains concerned about his well-being and does not want him to revert to destructive behaviors. Affleck has openly acknowledged his struggles with alcohol and has sought treatment three times.
"Jen can't stand by and do nothing. That's not in her nature," the source explained. "She has dropped everything to ensure Ben doesn't spiral out of control again. Ultimately, Ben is still the father of their children, and she is committed to supporting him in any way she can."
Meanwhile, as Garner attempts to assist her ex-partner with his challenges regarding Lopez, an earlier report suggested that the Atlas star may not be pleased.
"Everyone knows that Ben and Jen remained very close after their divorce. He confides in Jen about everything, even his issues with J. Lo," the insider disclosed. "J. Lo dislikes that Ben turns to his sensible, down-to-earth ex-wife for advice and emotional support. She prefers not to have Jen's input."
"J. Lo didn't come right out and tell Jen to back off - both women have been down this road before and know their boundaries - but she did tell Ben that his ex needs to stay away from him and butt out of their personal drama," the source also said.
Back in 2022, the situation was notably different. Affleck, who was previously engaged to Lopez from 2002 to 2004, reignited his romance with the singer in early 2021. An exclusive source informed Us Weekly at the time that Garner and Lopez were on good terms.
"J. Lo has Jennifer Garner's seal of approval," the insider exclusively revealed in June 2021. "J. Lo thinks Jennifer is a kind and wonderful person and an amazing mother."
In April 2022, Lopez disclosed that Affleck proposed for a second time, 20 years after their initial engagement, and they exchanged vows in July 2022.
As the family adjusted to their new circumstances, Lopez and Garner continued to focus on nurturing their friendship.
"Now that Jen and Jen have been coparenting, they've been getting to know each other better and have formed a very new friendship," an insider shared with Us in November 2022, noting that Garner "can't believe how sweet" Lopez is to her kids. "They really enjoy each other."
