While Red Lobster flails in the face of bankruptcy, one rapper is showing staunch support for the seafood restaurant chain.
Flavor Flav, best known as a member of Public Enemy and the star of the hit dating show Flavor of Love, took a trip to Red Lobster, where he purchased the entire menu.
"Ya boy meant it when I said I was gonna do anything and everything to help @redlobster and save the cheddar bay biscuits,,,ordered the whole menu,!!!" he wrote, adding three thumbs up emojis.
Red Lobster filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in May. The seafood chain owns roughly 600 restaurants globally, with 36,000 employees across the United States and Canada.
Red Lobster lost a whopping $76 million in 2023, which many point to as a result of the restaurant's now-permanent "Endless Shrimp" menu feature. Guests are able to eat as many shrimp as they like for only $20. Thai Union, one of Red Lobster's major investors and a canned seafood company, encouraged the chain restaurant to eliminate two of its breaded shrimp suppliers, making Thai Union the restaurant's sole shrimp supplier. This exclusive deal cost Red Lobster $11 million.
"Wait you saving @redlobster and the water polo team? Love it!!" replied one fan to Flav's post.
Flavor Flav recently announced that he would sponsor the U.S. Women's Water Polo team after the team's captain, Maggie Steffens, took to Instagram to encourage people to support the team. "We've had companies & amazing individuals support our sport alongside donors, USAWP & USOPC, but we always need more help," she wrote.
"AYYY YOOO,,,as a girl dad and supporter of all women's sports - imma personally sponsor you my girl,,, whatever you need," commented Flavor Flav on Steffens' post. "And imma sponsor the whole team. That's a FLAVOR FLAV promise."
But Flavor Flav is saving more than a water polo team and a restaurant chain.
"And teachers and music education and mental health awareness and food banks and addiction counseling and FUN seems like FUN needs to be saved lots these days," he wrote in response to the thankful Twitter fan.
Red Lobster, too, expressed their gratitude for the rapper, replying to the photo of the massive seafood spread with: "It's flavor time boyeeeeee!"
Flavor Flav reportedly shared the giant meal with his daughter and the two "nearly finished the entire spread." They allegedly returned home with "only two boxes," which prompted a less-than-thrilled reaction from Flav's son.
