Anticipation is growing for the upcoming biopic Michael, which features Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, in a prominent role.
At a recent symposium hosted by Gabelli Media & Entertainment Symposium, Jim Packer, Lionsgate's president of worldwide television distribution, conveyed optimism about the potential success of Michael.
He stated, "I think that'll be the biggest movie we've ever had," as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Packer shared the excitement surrounding the movie directed by Antoine Fuqua, set to premiere on April 18, 2025. He remarked on the buzz generated each time a photo is released, highlighting the growing interest in the movie amid recent biopics featuring musical legends like Elvis Presley and Freddie Mercury.
Lionsgate's main focus will be developing intellectual property and handling the production and distribution of movie and TV ventures, as mentioned by Packer during the meeting.
Jaafar has been deeply involved in the new biopic, managing various responsibilities in recent months. Last month, he was in Los Angeles filming scenes for the biopic, reenacting the "Thriller" music video. Various filming locations in downtown Los Angeles in May and Encino, California in March were used for Michael.

A trailer premiered at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April, generating significant attention among attendees. According to reports by Variety, the preview stood out as a highlight of Lionsgate's presentation to cinema owners.
During the sneak peek, a voice resembling that of Michael's mother, Katherine Jackson, could be recognized as she shared with her son, "You may encounter individuals who perceive you as unique, which could pose life challenges. But you never were like anyone else - Michael, you have a very special light - so make that light shine onto the world."
Afterwards, Michael Jackson's unmistakable voice resonated with the words, "When I'm not onstage everything feels foreign to me."
Leading up to the anticipated movie release, Graham King, the producer, described the movie as a deep dive into the life of the iconic singer-dancer, emphasizing the presence of dramatic twists, mysteries, and intense emotional experiences.
