It seems like anything that Jack White says these days is pretty newsworthy, and his "rant" at a concert in Boston last night concerning Foo Fighters and Rolling Stone is no exception. Just as White predicted, his comments indeed became click bait across the internet, but now he's taken a step back to offer some clarification of his comments.
Here's what White had to say about his comments in a statement, via Consequence of Sound:
"Dear dream-makers of the media...
Last night Jack White made a joke on stage!
There was a minor equipment mishap, specifically with his guitar, and in an effort to keep the audience engaged, he made a joke! It was meant to be funny and self deprecating: "hey sorry, you're stuck with just me up here..." vs the Foo Fighters who have three guitar players on stage and regularly play stadium shows.
Jack has the upmost respect for the Foo Fighters and communicated with Grohl this morning.
So if you'll let us, we'll all continue with our day and we assure you: All is well in the rock n roll world."
Foo Fighters didn't remain silent on the issue either: they took to their Twitter account earlier this afternoon to post this picture of a monkey holding a guitar. You can check out that post right here:
If you want to hear the rant in question for yourself, you can check it out right here (it's pretty funny, and he's not exactly wrong about Rolling Stone):
