Jennifer Lopez has canceled her upcoming This Is Me... Live tour amid reports of going through something in her marriage to Ben Affleck.
According to information shared with Paula Froelich of NewsNation, Lopez has decided to retain a portion of her $10 million signing bonus.
Live Nation implemented a new policy in 2020, under which artists will receive 25% of the guarantee if a tour is canceled due to "poor ticket sales," as detailed in a memo obtained by Rolling Stone. This means that if the pop star's initial advance was $10 million, she would be entitled to take home a substantial $2.5 million.
However, NewsNation's source revealed the "Jenny From the Block" singer did not hold onto the money despite expectations.
They told the outlet, "The tour was in progress; people needed to be paid. Unraveling a tour is not easy (or cheap). People were already on salary. Any money is held in escrow and is doled out by the bank to pay vendors, dancers, (etc), as well as severance for work they now won't be doing. Any other money remains (in escrow) until the (next) tour."
"And there will be a next tour. And everyone who worked on this tour will be rehired for the next one."
Lopez made the difficult decision to call off her upcoming summer tour to prioritize quality time with her loved ones, as per an announcement from Live Nation.
"[Lopez] is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends."
Expressing heartfelt remorse to her fans, the multi-talented artist shared that she feels deeply saddened and disheartened by the necessity of disappointing them.
Lopez said on her website, "Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again."

This comes amid reports of their failed attempts to salvage their marriage.
It has been revealed that the Atlas actress has decided to move on from her marriage with Affleck.
Despite feeling disheartened about the situation, she is now considering her plans, which include prioritizing her fitness routine, bonding with her children, and resuming her now-canceled tour.
An insider revealed to the Daily Mail that Lopez is now at a a point where she has decided to let go of salvaging her relationship with Affleck and is said to be prepared to transition to a new chapter in her life.
Lopez has reportedly expressed exhaustion in her efforts to salvage her marriage, realizing that there may be no further actions she can take to repair the relationship with her husband.
"[Lopez] has had enough and she really tried but she can do no more, it's not getting any better, it's worse."
Sources claimed that the "All I Have" singer's choice to allegedly end her marriage to Affleck stemmed from his persistent negative attitude and grumpiness.
They further said that despite their best efforts, Lopez and Affleck faced overwhelming challenges in their attempt to salvage their marriage.
"There is no one to blame here. It just was not in the cards. It is very hard for two massive stars to keep a marriage going, one has to give in, and in this case neither gave in."
