Scooter Braun has announced his retirement from music management to focus on his role as CEO of Hybe America, a South Korean entertainment giant.

Known for managing artists like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, Braun faced criticism for acquiring Taylor Swift's masters in 2019.

He shared on social media that he has joined the board of Hybe's U.S. division and will prioritize being a father and CEO over his previous role as a manager. The Instagram post had a very short status - "23 years," but the message is quite lengthy, delivered through a series of photos.

In the post, he tackled all the negative things that were said about him and the artists leaving his management.

"There has been a lot said about what is happening in our company... and in my career. When we had success I smiled, and when we were attacked I tried to always take the high road. But for the last 3 years I have begun to feel that taking the high road has created confusion and ambiguity as to who we are," he wrote.

In this post as well, he told his fans to not worry about having nothing to do and relayed his future plans as well. He wrote, "With Hybe going strong I am also looking forward to continuing to invest in a new generation of entrepreneurs and serve as a national board member of Make A Wish and help individuals and communities through our family's Braun Foundation. Between all of this and coaching my kids I'm not worried about being busy."

The comment section was not nice though. While there are those who wished him well on this decision, particularly those within the same industry, many of the netizens told him "Good riddance." Others said it is about time.

In particular, @daisymarie_4 wrote, "GOOD RIDDANCE!! People dropped you for many reasons." Another commenter, @maryamvirk_ wrote, "Thank god. This role was never even yours to begin with. You can't illegally steal & own other people's work now! All that you ever done as a manger is absolutely NOTHING LOL!"

One commenter, @karlijnalphenaar followed through with, "you are the king of NOTHING now... thank u madison for this wonderful song."

A commenter, laurapagano wrote, "WOOOOOO THANK THE LORD. THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS FREEEEEEE"

In addition to his work with Bieber, Grande, Asher Roth, Lil Dicky, Dan + Shay, and others, Braun founded Schoolboy Records. The label released music by Carly Rae Jepsen, Psy of "Gangnam Style" fame, and DJ Martin Garrix, among others.

Braun joined Hybe in 2021 after the company acquired his Ithaca Holdings, which had previously acquired Taylor Swift's masters and later sold them to Shamrock Holdings. Since joining Hybe, the conglomerate has also acquired the Atlanta hip-hop label Quality Control Music.

It was recently reported that an upcoming documentary on Discovery+, "Taylor Swift vs. Scooter Braun: Bad Blood," will delve into the personal and legal controversies central to the highly publicized feud between Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun.
