Today, the musician took to her official Instagram account to announce that she will be teaming up with the legendary singers for a remixed version of the track containing new verses from them.

"this is in celebration of you both and the impact that you have had on every vocalist, vocal producer, musician, artist that is creating today. i loooooove you both so so much. thank you !!!!!!!" she added.

The recent news comes after Monica and Brandy appeared in the official music video of the original single as they starred as news broadcasters to introduce Penn Badgely's character, Mayor Max Starling.

Grande first discussed the song in March when she teased her version, saying she had always been interested in reimagining the original song, which was released in 1998.

Speaking to Zane Lowe for Apple Music 1, the singer initially thought it was a "very bad idea," but at the same time, the majority of her fans wanted her to release a "bad girl anthem," and the new version is "an elevated version of that."

Fans took to the comment section of the announcement, and many of them were excited to hear the remix version. One wrote, "WHAT the actual is going on. Pinch me moment."

"I need 3 to 5 business days to recover from this announcement," another one wrote.

The remix version of "The Boy is Mine" will be available for streaming on major music platforms starting June 21, 2024.
