Jennifer Lopez has secured a new Netflix series deal amid growing rumors of an impending split from husband Ben Affleck.

The 54-year-old actress, who received mixed reviews for her Amazon Prime series The Greatest Love Story Never Told, which delved into her on-again romance with Affleck, 51, has inked a new agreement with the streamer through her company Nuyorican.

The deal involves adapting Emily Henry's novel Happy Place.

Deadline reports that plans to develop the novel into a series are currently underway, with producers and streaming executives in discussions with writers.

Happy Place follows the story of Harriet and Wyn, a couple who met in college but recently broke up. Despite their split five months earlier, they haven't disclosed this to their closest friends. During their annual retreat to a Maine cottage, they end up sharing a bedroom and agree to pretend they're still together.

Lopez will serve as a producer on the series alongside Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina.

Lopez's documentary, This Is Me Now... A Love Story, garnered attention for its bold and extravagant style, described as both "bonkers" and "an over-the-top delight" by critics.

Her appearance in the documentary has led some fans to label her as "out of touch" and "delusional."

In one widely reshared moment, Lopez is seen playing with her hair in front of a mirror while reminiscing about her upbringing in the Bronx, a famously working-class neighborhood of New York.

Meanwhile, despite being a "critical flop," Lopez's Atlas dominated Netflix for a time.

Earlier this month, the Netflix sci-fi film "Atlas" reaching nearly 60 million global views (or 119.4 million hours viewed), maintaining the top spot on the streamer's top 10 film chart for the second consecutive week and beyond.

This achievement marks her fourth No. 1 streaming movie in the past two years, following Netflix's The Mother and Prime Video's This Is Me Now: A Love Story and Shotgun Wedding.

Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Lopez's producing partner, expressed enthusiasm about these numbers.

She said, "It's time to report some true facts: A woman of color has done what few male stars have been able to do, namely having four No. 1 films in the past two years - Atlas, The Mother, This Is Me Now and Shotgun Wedding - two of them in the top 10 of all time on the two biggest streaming platforms, Netflix and Amazon."

"Yet those truths are being ignored," she added.

"I've known Jennifer for thirty years. She's a kind and deeply loving, hardworking mother, and isn't it a shame we are at a point where we allow a small group to create a false narrative through gossip and internet bullying toward a woman in the face of her tremendous success and consistent humanity - it's completely unfair and irresponsible."

The success of Atlas on streaming platforms coincides with news of Lopez's decision to take a break from an unplugged summer concert tour, as stated by LiveNation, to spend time with her children, family, and close friends. Ben Affleck did not attend the premiere of the said film, which caused tongues to further wag.

Meanwhile, talks of Lopez being "broke" emerged after reports of her flying commercial and being seated in economy on her journey from Naples to Paris for the Dior show.
