Taylor Swift and Prince William's friendship started long before their recent meeting at her Eras Tour stop in London.
On June 21, Swift snapped a photo with the heir to the throne and his two kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, when the royals attended the show. The Prince and Princess of Wales' official Instagram page also captured the special moment and shared a photo of the interaction.
After the meeting, royal biographer Katie Nicholl spoke with Entertainment Tonight and reflected on Swift and Prince William's friendship.
"I'm not sure that Princess Charlotte is the biggest Swiftie of the family or whether it's actually Prince William. I know he loves her music," said Nicholl. "They have a great connection, they're good friends."
Prince William and the "So Long, London" singer met for the first time at the Centrepoint Gala Dinner at Kensington Palace in London in 2013. They sang with Jon Bon Jovi at the time.
The biographer said the duo became good friends after that night, and Prince William reportedly got the royal treatment at Swift's Eras tour.
"There is clearly a lovely connection between these two," she added. "But William is not just a fan of Taylor, he's a huge fan of her music, too."
The "Bejeweled" singer did not meet Meghan Markle when she attended the Eras Tour in California in 2023. Prior to that, she reportedly declined when the Duchess of Sussex invited her to her "Archetypes."
Prince William and Kate Middleton have a lengthy royal feud with Meghan and Prince Harry.
"Meghan also later released through People magazine that she had spent some time at a Taylor Swift concert. So I think we are seeing our Taylor side with Team Wales here over the last few hours," commentator Kinsey Schofield said of Swift. "Also, you know, a lot of people pointing out the pictures of Meghan and Harry at the Beyoncé concert, where Harry looks pretty miserable versus Prince William shaking his tail feather at the Taylor Swift concert. You're just seeing that Prince William is pursuing joy. And I think that is important."
Schofield also assumed the Suits actress was likely jealous of Prince William's time with Swift after the snub she faced. In addition, she shared during her appearance on GBN America that Meghan was desperate to be friends with Taylor as she wanted to be like her "marketing-wise."
