Elton John confirmed that he won't be hitting the yellow brick road again.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight if he plans to hit back and return to the road again, John had a very definitive answer: "No."

"We've got our sons, you know, they're getting into their teenage years now. We don't want to miss anything. We want to be present for that. It's sort of a key decade, I think, in a child's life," David Furnish, John's husband, explained of the latter's decision to stop touring.

According to the filmmaker, John has been touring for 60 years, and it's "nice to have" his remaining time to "spend at home with family."

"The last show in Stockholm on the farewell tour after Glastonbury, I got in the car and went: 'Yes! yes!' We went out on the biggest high, just the way I wanted to, and there's no going back [after] that," John explained his decision.

John reflected on his legacy in his final performance at the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm last July 2023.

"I've had the most wonderful career, beyond belief. 52 years of pure joy playing music, how lucky am I to play music? But I wouldn't be sitting here if it wasn't for you," John said, as quoted by The Independent. "You bought the singles, albums and CDs and more importantly you bought the tickets to the shows and you know how I love to play live."

The EGOT-winning entertainer declared that it has been his "lifeblood" to play for his fans.

"I will never forget you guys. I've played so many concerts, how could I forget? You're in my head, and my heart and my soul and I thank you so much," he added.

While touring is not a possibility anymore, the same could not be said for new music. Bernie Taupin revealed that his frequent collaborator, John, will release a new album soon because it's all recorded.

Speaking to The Sun in May 2024 at the Other Songs Live event in London, Taupin dished out the new album news.

"Elton and I have an album coming out very soon, but I daren't say anything about it because I'm under strict orders to keep schtum," he disclosed. "It's all done and recorded."

Taupin detailed further what fans could expect in the upcoming album.

"I think it's quite brilliant and quite contemporary and it will certainly surprise a lot of people and excite a lot of people and hopefully be successful," he added.
