Lil Mama has some words for the Queen of Rap, Nicki Minaj, after watching the 2024 BET Awards.

In an Instagram post, rapper De-1 implored the BET Network and the BET Awards to "do better as a 'culture'."

"I mean this sincerely ... Deep down, most executives, fans, and artists know we can do better. We just gotta have the courage to do it," the rapper wrote, noting the abundance of "sex rap" at the show.

Lil Mama did not hold back on the comments, emphasizing how the BET Network had also given Nicki Minaj one of the night's top awards.

"Then gave Nicki an award for leading this pack. Corporate "BARS" be going over our head. They laughing at us for sure!" Lil Mama commented, eventually sparking a heated conversation on the comments.

Dee-1 agreed with Lil Mama's assessment, saying, "facts! i thank God that you are different and that i'm a always have yo back."

One fan defended Minaj, citing Lil Kim as having inspired them instead. Lil Mama did not back down and explained how Minaj had inspired them after being inspired by Lil Kim.

"key word... THIS Pack. These young women are not influenced by. Kim. Nicki is influenced by Kim. These women are 23. What major musical prostitutes do you remember from the last 15 years," Lil Mama wrote in response. "Who do you think they watched corporate give a platform and flowers for slitting out. Be forreal. Like I said they are laughing at us and the award was a "thanks to you, now we have 7,8, 9 of em."

As the debate went on, Lil Mama reflected on the current female rap scene today.

"I agree there [were] definitely option[s] in style and content [in the past]," the "Lip Gloss" rapper noted. "It's all love, God Is the Greatest and these women are gonna wake up and realize that they are worth more than any price tag. Sometimes we can't see ourselves. We are just living... so I can [understand] how this can happen and feel normal."

Megan Thee Stallion, Cardi B, Sexyy Red, GloRilla, Doechii, and Ice Spice all performed at the 2024 BET Awards-all of whom have been credited with being inspired by Minaj at one point in their careers.
