Nick Carter is intensifying his efforts to persuade a California judge to temporarily suspend Melissa Schuman's legal action accusing him of sexual assault as both parties engage in a legal dispute.

According to legal records reviewed by Radar Online, Carter maintained that his temporary motion to halt the proceedings was based on valid reasons. He argued that the accuser's accusation of being a ploy to postpone his obligation to address the claims in court was unfounded.

Schuman, who filed the case in California, brought forth allegations of sexual assault against the former Backstreet Boys star that happened in 2002. According to Schuman's account, the incident occurred in a Santa Monica apartment when she was 18 while the pop star was 22.

According to the lawsuit, "Schuman's roommate and childhood friend and Carter's friend were in the apartment in Santa Monica the night Carter sexually assaulted Schuman; and right after the assault, Schuman informed her manager (who made arrangements to keep Schuman away from Carter while on set), her roommate, her mother and another actor."

Schuman informed authorities about the incident in 2017. Despite this, no legal action was taken against Carter.

Carter refuted all of Schuman's accusations in the lawsuit, and the motion will be discussed in a July 10 hearing.

In a new legal filing, he contended that it would be prudent to pause the California litigation pending the resolution of another legal proceeding in Nevada filed by another accuser, Shannon Ruth.

He emphasized the significance of the Nevada case's conclusion in determining the course of action in Schuman's lawsuit. According to Nick, the alleged assault never happened, insinuating that Schuman collaborated with Ruth to fabricate the accusations.

Ruth was the first plaintiff to file a civil lawsuit against the singer, alleging misconduct during another incident in 2001 that happened on his tour bus.

In response to Ruth's accusations, Carter filed a lawsuit against her, Schuman, and Schuman's father, claiming they had manipulated Ruth into making false accusations against him.

Carter is seeking compensation and demanding more than $2 million in damages for what he believed was a coordinated effort to pressure him into settling the dispute.

The "Shape of My Heart" singer also filed a countersuit, alleging that Schuman, her father, and Shannon had been sharing "false" information about him through a Twitter account.
