Doja Cat, the 28-year-old singer from Agoura Hills, asserted on Monday that her Twitter account had been hacked, after a series of tweets raised eyebrows, including one that criticized fellow rapper Iggy Azalea.
Azalea did not pass on the chance to comment on this explanation and share whether she believed it or not.
The Grammy winner took to her reactivated Instagram account-previously shut down in March due to online bullying-to clarify, stating, "My Twitter's been hacked, these messages are not from me."
Her statement came shortly after a tweet from her hacked account disparaged Iggy Azalea with the message: "f*** that stupid b**** @IGGYAZALEA and buy $DOJA."
Another tweet from the compromised account called out a different female rapper, saying, "where you at boo @NICKIMINAJ."
In addition, Doja's account interacted with controversial figure Andrew Tate's post, simply commenting, "hey boo." Another tweet featured a photo of Doja Cat in a chainmail hood holding a knife, with the text: "buy $DOJA or else."
Meanwhile, Iggy Azalea appeared unperturbed by the alleged insult, promptly tweeting, "Get rugged if yall want but I'm cool w that girl irl so yall f***** up w that tweet hackers."
Offering her perspective on the incident, the Australian rapper added, "They hacked Doja cat n have posted a sh**coin scam. Hackers on celeb girl accounts again making it about me cause I'm their fixation but they didn't consider the fact that I may actually interact w ppl in real life and it's not fitting into reality lol."
Nicki Minaj and Andrew Tate have not publicly responded to the tweets nor to Doja Cat's explanation.
Back in March, Doja Cat deactivated her Instagram account, citing how she was "spoken to" and "treated" on the platform as reasons for her departure.
She shared with her followers, "hey i'm gonna deactivate because im not really feeling this anymore. you guys take care of yourselves." Later editing her message to add, "i like coming here to find inspo and see people being creative but i just feel this is getting to be too much."
During the incident, hackers posted more than two dozen times and altered Doja Cat's profile picture and bio. This marks another in a series of hacks targeting social media accounts of prominent celebrities. Hackers frequently focus on those with large followings, promoting meme coins associated with Solana. Geo News reported a previous instance where Hulk Hogan's X account (formerly Twitter) was similarly compromised for the same motive.
