Could Camila Cabello and Shawn Mendes finally be finding their way back to each other? Cameras caught them sitting side by side at the Copa América final held at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium on Sunday.

Fans have speculated that the duo has rekindled their relationship, yet concerns about the couple's reunion linger.

@hnnymoonave on X, formerly Twitter, said, "i think i've seen this film before," which is a line from a Taylor Swift song "Exile."

The lyrics talk about familiarity and disappointment towards a repetitive story of heartache and failed relationships. It also implies that the subject has previously encountered emotional suffering and is apprehensive about feeling it once again.

Somebody writes somewhere in the same X thread, "And I didn't like the ending."

@NTLTCGENESIS yelled, "NO GIRL STAND UP."

@Chetz__ suggested, "This is how you traumatize a fandom," while @Omarsfuturebf prayed, "Let's hope they're just friends.."

@dwrosee wrote, "she never leaving that man alone and he ain't leaving her alone period."

On the other hand, some fans argue that their public appearances together serve as a strategic move to enhance their professional image and increase their visibility in the entertainment industry.

@positionsmafiaa believes "They always begin dating again after their jobs tank."

@mslauralovely_ said, "She needed Shawn to revive her career," while @Crestials wrote, "She knows she's flopping, but she tried everything to stay relevant. Racist will never win."

Cabello and Mendes' romance started in July 2019 and lasted two years until November 2021.

In an interview with Elle magazine in October 2019, the "Shameless" singer disclosed details about their relationship, with the former Fifth Harmony member explaining she initially chose to keep their romance under wraps to protect its intimacy.

Shortly after the interview, Cabello and Mendes posted separate statements on their Instagram Stories revealing the end of their relationship.

A report from Us Weekly revealed that after their brief reunion in early spring 2023, the couple decided to part ways again in June 2023.

An insider told the outlet then, "Camila was the one who ultimately decided to end things. The insider noted that the "Mercy" hitmaker was "very upset" that their romance didn't last long.

"A lot of their old problems started coming back after spending so much time together."

Cabello opened up about that short-lived reunion in a Call Her Daddy podcast in March 2024, expressing that something about that time just didn't sit well with her.

The "Never Be the Same" singer revealed, "It took us both less time to be like, 'This doesn't feel right, and we really don't need to try so hard to make it work.'"

"'It's all good. This is not feeling good. Let's be friends. I love you, it's all good let's move on, you go do your thing ... become the person that you're becoming, and I'll root for you.'"
