Trisha Yearwood was born on September 19, 1964 in Monticello, Georgia to Gwendolyn and Jack Yearwood. Though she sang in the choir, musicals and talent shows, her interested was in numbers and while in high school, she decided that she wanted to be an accountant. After graduating from Young Harris College with an Associates Degree, she went to UGA briefly but transferred to Belmont University and entered their music business program,. Yearwood graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in business administration in 1987. Her internship with MTM Records turned into full-time employment after graduation. It was there that she recorded her own demos and sang background vocals for other artists. One such artist, Garth Brooks, helped her get a record deal. Her debut album hit stores in 1991 and spawned a #1 single.
