Coldplay is doing something big in this world aside from making music.
The band is said to be organizing ten consecutive shows at Wembley Stadium in London as a unique approach to promote their new album, Moon Music.
Rather than opting for the conventional tour route to support it, Coldplay is said to be going the unconventional route.
Fans of the "Yellow" hitmakers, which include Chris Martin, Will Champion, Guy Berryman, and Jonny Buckland, know they always develop strategies to minimize their environmental impact.
In connection with that, Coldplay is reportedly discussing creating their stage production in a single location to reduce their carbon footprint.
An insider revealed to The Sun, "Coldplay wants to do something super special for Moon Music, and they have discussed the idea of a set residency rather than touring across the UK."
"Wembley has been mooted as a possible location which would work for a ten-date residency, for example."
"It means they would be able to play to almost a million fans, all while keeping down their carbon footprint."
The "Fix You" artists went to great lengths to lessen the carbon footprint of their tour, Music of the Spheres, aiming to reduce the necessity for transportation and equipment movement.
This move towards hosting concerts in a single location would drastically reduce the environmental impact of their concerts.
Coldplay shared that the first two years of their global tour achieved a 59% decrease in carbon emissions compared to their previous concert from 2016 to 2017. In the series of concerts, they implemented several sustainable practices, such as reducing air travel, utilizing eco-friendly materials for its stages, and adopting more energy-efficient lighting solutions.
In addition, Coldplay created innovative kinetic dance floors that allowed concertgoers to produce electricity through their dancing.
They said in a statement, "As a band, and as an industry, we're a long way from where we need to be on this."
"But we're grateful for everyone's help so far and we salute everyone who's making efforts to push things in the right direction."
Leading up to their tour, the band promised to prioritize environmental sustainability by aiming to minimize their carbon footprint throughout the tour.
"You have helped charge the show batteries on the power bikes and kinetic dance floors; traveled to shows by foot, bicycle, or public transport; ride-shared; used the recycling bins; brought refillable water bottles; returned the LED wristbands after the show."
The British musicians said that fans who attended their concerts already contributed to planting trees and supporting environmental groups such as The Ocean Cleanup and ClientEarth.
