Katy Perry Says She Found Her 'Soulmate' in Daughter Daisy, Wrote New Single 'Lifetimes' About Her

Katy Perry has revealed the sweet inspiration behind her next single, "Lifetimes."

On Monday, Perry announced that her next single, "Lifetimes," will be released on Aug. 9, along with a new music video.

She shared the news on Instagram by posting the cover art for the song, which features a purple and red heart with the title of her album, "143," emblazoned on it and clear liquid dripping from it.

The singer also recently opened up about the song during an interview with The Sun at The Box Club in London to discuss her upcoming album, "143," which will be out on Sept. 20.

The "Teenage Dream" singer revealed that the inspiration behind her upcoming single was her 3-year-old daughter Daisy Dove, whom she shares with her longtime fiancé Orlando Bloom.

"It is funny how sometimes you're looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mom, your best friend, your cat... but for me it came in the form of Daisy," the singer said, confirming, "I wrote 'Lifetimes' about her."

Perry went on to share the touching story that inspired the song's title.

"Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, 'I love you,' and then I ask, 'Will you find me in every lifetime?' and she says, 'Yes,'" she recalled.

Perry added of her daughter, "The love I was missing, every mountain I climbed looking for this view, all this love, it came to me when she entered my life."

The singer gave birth to Daisy in August 2020, just five months after showing her baby bump in the "Never Worn White" music video.

"Lifetimes" was the song Perry previewed in a recent interview with Zane Lowe of Apple Music. She sang the lines, "I love you for, I love you for life / Lifetimes / I know you feel it, can you believe it? / I'm going to love you til the end and then repeat it."
