At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Jennifer Lopez presented her fellow Latina superstar, Shakira with one of the prestigious golden gramophones. The Colombian artist won the 2025 Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album for her hit record 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.'
On the 2025 Grammys red carpet, Shakira explained that her latest album, 'Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran' reflected how her life over the past two years had not been "a path of roses" but ultimately became a testament to the ability "to rebuild yourself."
This message has been central to her promotion of songs like 'SHAKIRA || BZRP Music Sessions #53' and 'TQG,' the album's two biggest hits, both widely seen as references to her split from former partner Gerard Piqué.
However, when she took the stage at the Crypto Arena, Shakira shifted the focus to the struggles of undocumented Latinos facing deportation and the harassment many immigrants and even Hispanic citizens have endured from ICE.

Shakira's 2025 Grammy speech
"I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved. You are worth it, and I will always fight with you," Shakira declared, delivering one of the most political statements of her three-decade career.
Behind her, Jennifer Lopez applauded enthusiastically, but none more so than Emilio and Gloria Estefan, who were seated at her table and played a crucial role in launching her career in the U.S. and English-language music.
"And to all of those women who work really hard every day to provide for their families—you are the true she-wolves," she added.
She also took a moment to acknowledge her children, who were elegantly dressed and seated with her: "And I want to share this award with my kids, Milan and Sasha, who are here with me. I'm so proud of you guys, of your kind hearts. Thank you for supporting me the way you do."
Shakira's advocacy for immigrants aligns with artists like Puerto Rican rapper Residente and Mexican-American singers Selena Gomez, Chiquis, and Ángela Aguilar.
The singer and her children have been U.S. residents since mid-2024, relocating to Miami from Barcelona after her separation from Piqué.
On her birthday, Shakira also stood out as the only Latin artist among the 2025 Grammy performers.
