Garth Brooks' tour stop announcement dates are coming a tad quicker than they were a few months ago but as Alex Smith's story showed yesterday, the guy is making his money. The most recent update to his tour schedule is the addition of a fifth city: Minneapolis, where for the time being he's confirmed to be playing at least two dates at the Target Center. It will be his first stop in Minnesota in more than 16 years.
For the time being it seems that Minnesotans will get to be the audience who hangs out with Brooks nearest to the release of his new album. Although formally untitled still, the record is set to drop on November 11, which means the Target Center audience will be the first to see the country star post his album release. Trisha Yearwood, his wife and concert opener, will be releasing her own album on November 17.
Brooks is actually scheduled for four shows at the Target Center. Both Friday and Saturday night of the tour's stop in the city will involve two shows, one at 6:30 P.M. and another at 10:30 P.M. It seems crazy to think that he would plan additional dates after that regime...shows of that size and scope will take it out of his team...but he's done the same thing in Chicago and Atlanta and hasn't had any issues yet.
The announcement of the Minneapolis dates came as somewhat of a surprise, considering that he so recently announced his stop at Lexington's Rupp Arena. He'll only be playing two gigs in Kentucky—if you believe his website—which is a departure from the first three cities he's announced so far, where he'll be playing at least six shows each. Still, there's a 13 day gap between his last Lexington show and his first Minnesota gig so there's plenty of time for him to add more Kentucky concerts. Tickets haven't actually gone on sale yet for the Rupp Arena shows, so we wouldn't be surprised in the least if more are added.
