Dave Stewart of The Eurythmics Writes Musical 'Zombie Broadway'

Just in case you were not sick of zombies yet, a new zombie musical film is on the way from Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart, Deadline reports.

Zombie Broadway is based on Stewart's 2008 graphic novel of the same name, which he wrote with David Harris and Christine Schenley, about a group of Broadway performers fighting zombies.

Stewart co-wrote the film's music with Michael Bradford. Cole Haddon, of NBC's Dracula, has been tapped to write the script, while music video auteur Jonas Akerlund, whose most recent credit is the HBO concert documentary On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay Z, is on board to direct.

"My world revolves around music and film," Stewart said. "I've always been obsessed with the idea of film married with a story and music. Jonas [Akerlund] has shot loads of music videos, but one of the first ones that caught my attention was [The Prodgy's] 'Smack My B---- Up.' I was not let down when I met him, not only with his wild imagination but his ability to execute his ideas under massive duress of time and budget."

Stewart's previous film credits include the scores to Showgirls and Beautiful Girls, as well as an original song for the film Alfie written with Mick Jagger.

This is not the first time he has written a musical, either. He has written stage musicals in the past based on the films Barbarella and Ghost.

Stewart's most recent solo studio album was 2013's Lucky Numbers. The Eurythmics's last album, Peace, was released in 1999.
