On September 26, City on a Hill Studio and Samuel Goldwyn Films will release The Song, a modern day love story inspired by the life and writings of Solomon. Starring Alan Powell (lead singer of Anthem Lights), Ali Faulkner (The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1) and Caitlin Nicol-Thomas (ABC's Nashville pilot), the music-driven story features 11 original songs from the Americana genre and tells a story of love, marriage, betrayal and the meaning of them all.
Jed King (Powell) is the son of country music royalty and he struggles to find his own path in the music industry. A show at a local vineyard changes his life as he meets the woman of his dreams. Rose (Faulkner) eventually becomes his wife and it's the inspiration from her love that sparks his first hit.
Stardom isn't all that it's cracked up to be and once he's in the middle of it, Jed faces temptations he's not prepared for. His new opening act, Shelby Bale (Nicol-Thomas), chases him hard and his life and marriage start to fall apart as Rose and his family seem farther and farther away.
The baby and brainchild of writer and director Richard Ramsey, The Song pulls from the Song of Solomon, Ecclesiastes and Proverbs. A story that addresses love and choices, it's one that anyone, regardless of their faith, can relate to.
Music lovers will fall in love with the songs in the film as well as the 15 found on the soundtrack because they are as real as the emotions running across the screen. Music director Vince Emmett pulled together a dream team of talent.
