Bad news for MTV Video Music Award show attendees and few lucky ticket-holders: The Cash Money/Young Money Entertainment after party has been cancelled. Cash Money rapper and honcho Bryan "Birdman" Williams said the decision was made because of overwhelming response and a concern for safety. "Due to the overwhelming response received and the ensuing capacity issues and, moreover, out of concern for the safety of our fans and guests planning on attending, CASH MONEY RECORDS and YOUNG MONEY ENTERTAINMENT believed it would be more prudent to regretfully cancel the event," read a statement. "Shortly after the party was announced, the incredible reaction from ticket-buyers, guests, and artists brought the final count of attendees above and beyond capacity allowed. Keeping safety for all in highest regard, the party has been officially cancelled." The party was to go down at Brooklyn's Skylight One Hanson nightclub. Birdman and Lil Wayne would serve as hosts, and label members Busta Rhymes and DJ Khaled were to appear as musical guests. Other Young Money members, such as Drake and Tyga would also be in attendance. The curious thing about the cancellation was that it was invite-only, so somehow the organizers must have given out too many tickets(?). A few tickets were made available to the public, with all proceeds benefitting the American Diabetes Association. A basic ticket to the event went for $250 while a ticket guaranteeing entry to the Cash Money-VIP area cost $500. No statements were given regarding the refunding of the public tickets.
