Former Flipmode Squad first lady Rah Digga recently gave her opinion on current female rappers, particularly Iggy Azalea, and she said the Australian rapper is not "real hip-hop." Azalea fired back on Twitter, which prompted Digga to issue a statement of her own. The debate on hip-hop stems from a radio interview.
After Digga said she doesn't consider Azalea authentic, the "Black Widow" rapper responded on Twitter saying basically she could care less.
"I honestly don't really mind if I'm described as rap or pop. My passion is purely making music and entertaining," she tweeted.
Digga followed suit and addressed those who were questioning her authority to determine what is and isn't "real hip-hop." Check out what she had to say after the jump.
I'm gonna keep this brief cuz I'm REALLY busy working with the Mayor and the city. We've created a hip hop school that PAYS homeless youth. As a person that has studied Hip Hop since it's INCEPTION I am HIGHLY qualified to speak on it. *I DONE SEEN IT ALL* Kinda hard to have an intellectual convo about Hip Hop as a whole when the person you're talking to makes it about 1 person. Not my crusade. I just answer the questions I don't press issues...the SAME questions just keep coming up tho...and I keep giving my SAME opinion *shrugs* Long as the "response" isn't an invitation to battle lmao...I can totally take it how I dish it...and keep it movin...Honestly, I have far worse grievances with black rappers...the whole bit bout informing/empowering youth...we couldn't expand on that tho...Next time I'll try to be MORE clear when I'm speaking on someone specifically vs Hip Hop as a whole..tho I thought I did that several times. And on that note gotta sign off. Got an early day rounding up dropouts and homeless kids and paying them to learn about Kool Herc #CULTURE
