Britt Daniel of Spoon Discloses His Favorite Album Cover, Romantic Song in New Interview

Spoon have survived another album promo campaign — They Want My Soul dropped Aug. 5 — so singer Britt Daniel decided to go along with a wacky, Spoon-free interview.

Radio.com sat him down for some out-of-box questions, including Daniel's favorite album cover.

"There are so many great ones, and if I saw something else it might change my mind, but usually my go-to favorite record cover is Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones," he said. "You know what I'm talking about? It's the one with the cake and the bicycle tire. It's cool because it's simple, but there's some kind of bizarre — it's almost Dadaist in a way. The fact that there's a bicycle wheel on a cake, along with the boxes for reels of audio tape. There's a lot of things going on there at once. The band are there as little cake men, cake figurines. The whole thing is real art."

Ever wondered what Daniel's favorite romantic tune is? We now have the answer.

"It depends on what kind of romantic you mean, but for longingly romantic songs I'd pick "Back on the Chain Gang" by The Pretenders," he said. "I don't know when, but I guess I heard it on the radio when I was listening back then to all the Top 40 stuff, at that time. I'm looking up when that record came out — it says 1982."

The band still has several road obligations ahead. Check out the schedule:
