Fan Discovers Beatles plans for BBC Recordings On Air — Live at the BBC Volume 2

Universal Music's Philippines subsidiary leaked the details of a new Beatles anthology, "On Air - Live at the BBC Volume 2," and fans were quick to uncover it.

The Guardian reported that MCA Music in the Philippines (part of Universal Music) announced on its Facebook page that there were plans to collect unreleased recordings of the Beatles' mid-60s BBC radio tapings.

Apparently, the person who discovered the information came from the Beatles' fan-page WogBlog. He found out when the anthology was to be released (sometime in November) as well as what artwork would be featured on the album.

The "detective," Roger Stormo, says in his post: "What I discovered, was that MCA Music (which is the Universal Music company in the Philippines) announced these three facts on their facebook site on August 8th. The cover photo is a familiar old black and white photo by Dezo Hoffman, which has been colourised. Further examination of the cover photo here."

This news has not been confirmed; however. So, the hunt is still on for fans looking to uncover the truth.

According to Rolling Stone, the new anthology is a result of the 2012 Listener's Archive campaign, which used crowd sourcing to cultivate home-recorded radio and television shows for donation to the BBC; they did not begin its archival system until the 70s.

The first volume of BBC recordings was released in 1994, featuring 56 songs and 13 dialogue tracks.

In October, the BCC plans to release the book "The Beatles - The Archives: 1962-1970," by Kevin Howlett. It will recount the Beatles appearances made during the 1962 to 1970 era.
