Timbaland hinted in a video interview with Revolt TV that he has an upcoming project in the works that will incorporate Michael Jackson's vocals. The idea came from Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid, according to Rolling Stone.
He said that the project is "two kings working together," but there are not many details yet other than the mention the first single being called "Chicago."
The choppy 39-second clip has been made private (though it seems to be working on The Guardian's website), so it is possible that the influential producer is trying to keep this information under wraps.
According to The Guardian, Timbaland has criticized the reanimation of dead musicians by modern artists. About Drake's and Chris Brown's using of his late protégé Aaliyah's vocals on their songs, Timbaland said, "Chris Brown got a record, it won't work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it ain't gonna work. ...Aaliyah music only work with its soulmate, which is me."
Other than the release of the six previously unreleased recordings in "This is It," a reissue of old material ("Bad") and compilation albums, not much new Jackson material has been dropped by his record label, Epic, since the singer's death.
Timbaland ends the video clip saying, "Not it's my turn; watch me go." Looks like we will have to wait and see what the producer has in store.
