Eminem vs. Jay Z: Producer Just Blaze Throws His Opinion Into The Ring [WATCH]

Hip-hop is beef central, so big names have to tiptoe around tricky questions to ensure that they won't be uninvited from providing a guest verse on the next mixtape or worse, getting dissed themselves on that same mixtape. Producers rarely get the chance to respond lyrically, so Just Blaze had to be careful when Vlad TV asked him which rapper was more talented: Jay Z or Eminem? Blaze kept the fire burning low, as expected.

"I don't know if I would say that Jay's the most talented," the producer said, waffling better than Waffle House itself. "He's obviously one of the-he may be the most talented. If it's not Jay-See, it's different. I have great experience working with Jay, great experience working with Eminem. But they're two totally different approaches. Jay's approach to work is very much like Jay's personality. He's very laid-back. Kinda just lets me do me. And doesn't really get in the middle too much...Whereas Eminem is very much hands on with the process. So they're both very creative and super-talented, but just in very different ways."

Although praising Jay for just laying it down, Blaze gave equal weight to Eminem's keen ear and pursuit of perfection.

"Em is there when you're making the beat sometimes," he said. "He's there when you're mixing. He's there mixing and tweaking his own vocals. He hears, he has like dog hearing. So, he'll be like 'Turn this up a half a dB. Turn the bass up like a quarter dB at this frequency.' He's very much of a scientist with it. Where Jay is more so like 'That sounds good. Cool, I'm out.'"

Returning to the original question, it seems that Blaze is suggesting that Jay is the "more talented" rapper, in that he simply delivers and lets it be. On the other hand, taken the wrong way, the producer somewhat implies that Jay is more lazy Eminem. But maybe that's just us trying to start another rap beef.
