Taylor Swift: Out of the Woods
Rumored to be about her tension-filled relationship with One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles, Swift described "Out of the Woods" as about a relationship that is full of stress, tension and uncertainty... but that doesn't mean it wasn't worth all the effort.
"One of the goals I set out to accomplish when I wanted to make this album is that I wanted to make sure these songs sounded exactly the way that the emotions felt when I felt them," Swift said in a video interview. "This song is about the fragility and breakable nature of some relationships... It was a relationship where you never really feel like you're standing on solid ground. That kind of feeling brings along a lot of excitement but also extreme anxiety, kind of a frantic feeling of wondering. This song sounds exactly like that frantic feeling of anxiety and questioning."
GMA also offered up a short snippet of "Out of the Woods." Though the morning talk show hosts are chattering over the musical sample, Swift can be repeatedly singing the song's title in a rich, layered chorus.
If it sounds a bit like Bleachers, don't be surprised... the band's Jack Antonoff penned the track.
"Out of the Woods" will be released tomorrow (Oct. 14) right at midnight on iTunes. It's a sampler track from Swift's new album 1989, which is set to be released on Oct. 27.
