In honor of Gilmore Girls coming to Netflix, Lane Kim's (Keiko Agena) fictional covers band Hep Alien had a real-life reunion. Agena, John Cabrera (Brian Fuller), and Todd Lowe (Zack Van Gerbig) took on a cover of The White Stripes' "Fell In Love With A Girl" earlier this month in L.A.
Cabrera captured the moment on and shared it on Twitter. It was later posted the Gilmore Girls Facebook page.
To all #GilmoreGirls fans lovin the Hep Alien shot, thank @shinkawasaki. He literally put the drumsticks in her hands. Next thing we knew...

Now as much as I'd love to call that shot a Hep Alien reunion, truth is we were missing a key member, @sebastianbach. — John Cabrera (@johncabrera) October 14, 2014
Tonight @KeikoAgena got back on the drums for Fell In Love With A Girl. @Todd__Lowe & I had to join in. #GilmoreGirls pic.twitter.com/pmWooUxpga — John Cabrera (@johncabrera) October 4, 2014
Sadly, neither Sebastian Bach (Gil) nor Adam Brody (Dave Rygalski) were present for the reunion.
Lane Kim started the band after she decided to defy her family's religious beliefs against rock music, proudly declaring, "Eternal damnation is what I'm risking for my rock 'n roll!"
Hep Alien played their first gig at a house party. Throughout the show, they saw a few lineup changes. At one point the band broke up when Lane and Zack broke up, but they get back together a few months later and found some moderate success with a profitable tour.
According to Gilmore Girls Wiki, the band name is an anagram of Helen Pai, the best friend of show producer Amy Sherman-Palladino.
