Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor Swap Top Spot on Digital Downloads Chart Again; Probably A Moot Point When "Out Of The Woods" Numbers Arrive

The clash of titans between Taylor Swift and Meghan Trainor continues: "Shake It Off" from the former took the no. 1 spot from the latter's "All About That Bass," marking the fifth time the two songs have swapped the top two spots on the Digital Downloads charts (sorry Meghan...you're not quite a titan yet. Keep working at it!). Alas, that doesn't mean sales are looking good on the singles charts. "Shake" only gathered 171,000 downloads last week, a 10 percent drop, which was less than "Bass"s 17 percent drop (to 169,000 downloads). It's the smallest sales week for the Top 10 yet this year, although that trend will probably be dramatically reversed when Swift's "Out Of The Woods" registers next week.

Maroon 5 was one of several performers to take advantage of slow sales in its road to the top. "Animals" rose another two spots (despite a slight drop in sales), taking no. 3 with 114,000 copies downloaded. That would be the last song to top 100,000 last week. Tove Lo went right back to the no. 4 spot she abandoned last week, moving 99,000 copies of "Habits (Stay High)." It was one of the few songs to post a gain this week, rising 12 percent in sales.

"Bang Bang"-the track from "power trio" Ariana Grande, Jessie J and Nicki Minaj-sold 94,000 downloads and moved up to no. 5, while Jason Derulo took advantage of low sales with his new single "Trumpets" rising to no. 6 with a slight boost in sales and 80,000 downloads.

One new song made its debut this week and it's Florida Georgia Line's "Sippin' On Fire," which moved 79,000 copies. We'll see how long it sticks around however: Three singles debuted in the Top 10 last week and all fell from grace this week.

"Black Widow" from Iggy Azalea is the last "regular" to appear on this week's list, as it moved 77,000 copies last week.

The big mover this week was Nick Jonas' "Jealous," which rose from no. 17 to no. 9 with a 17 percent boost in sales. The single sold 75,000 downloads. Jeremih makes his return with "Don't Tell 'Em" to round off this week's chart. That song sold 74,000 copies.
