Nowhere in the United States is the EDM arms race more dramatic than Las Vegas and a new club is entering the mix. Which is to say the Hakkasan Group, which already operates the city's most hopping venue in MGM Grand's Hakkasan, will now be operating Omnia out of Caesar's Palace, according to USA Today.
The venue used to be known as Pure, one of the crown jewels of the Las Vegas strip club scene but will change personalities and reopen during Spring 2015. Hakkasan operated Pure as well but decided that the venue needed to change to stay current.
"Pure was really the first 'celebrity' venue to exist in Las Vegas, which traded on our desire to be in the proximity of famous people," Nick McCabe, president of Hakkasan, told USA Today. "Now that social media offers us almost unfettered access to celebrities, nightclubs have moved in a different direction and our customers seek valuable experiences in the form of performances. Omnia will be a very performance-focused venue."
This seems like common sense to all of us who prefer clubs for quality music rather than general drinking andy carrying on (aka the minority) but the moral is Omnia will feature a greatly improved performance space, including the new expansion into the casino's former poker room, which features high-vaulted ceilings that will add a unique element to the experience.
It may be a while before it gets lineups quite as star-studded as those at Hakkasan or XS but this is Vegas. The stars will come.
