Pepsi Hires Head of Music: Former Capitol and EMI VP Aims to Nurture Relationships with Emerging Performers (Maybe Announce Super Bowl Performer?)

Pepsi isn't new to the world of music but it seems to be turning things up. The company named Emma Quiqley its North American head of music (despite the world's most British name), a position that didn't exist prior to her hiring, according to Billboard.

According to the company, Quigley will be working to establish relationships between the soda giant and emerging music acts. Much of that will go hand-in-hand with the company's Pepsi Pulse Artist Spotlight Program, which is currently affiliated with rising stars Nico & Vinz (of "Am I Wrong" fame), Sebastian Mikael and Mayaeni. Affiliations with musicians can be a great attention-grabber, even for the most irrelevant of brands. Both Adult Swim (Cartoon Network's adult animated branch) and Converse have gathered acclaim for their respective music series.

Does this mean we'll be seeing Pepsi-sponsored exclusive tracks sometime soon? No, but we can hope.

Obviously Pepsi has some bigger projects on its mind as well, like the annual most watched performance in music...or anything: The Super Bowl Halftime Show. Rumors are strongly pointing to Katy Perry right now but you can bet Quigley will play some role in grabbing side talent and aiding in booking future shows.

Quigley comes from a music background, previously working with the Capitol Music Group, EMI Music Group and 19 Entertainment before heading to Pepsi. She'll be working out of the company headquarters in Purchase, NY, a hamlet not too far north of New York City. Should be easy to head down for meeting with the city's hefty music industry.
