It's been a long time coming, but Lupe Fiasco's new album Tetsuo & Youth finally has a release date. After the "Remission" rapper announced he was bypassing his label and releasing a mixtape Lost in the Atlantic for his fans, Atlantic Records finally settled on a timeline for the new album last night (Oct. 15).
According to Atlantic Records' Twitter account, Tetsuo & Youth will finally be released on Jan. 20, 2015.
Fiasco himself seemed pleased with finally receiving an album release date, responding to his label positively on Twitter with a meme.
The news of a finalized release date for Testuo & Youth follows Fiasco's announcement yesterday that he would be bypassing his label to release a mixtape to hold his fans over until Atlantic Records found a new "pop single" from his album.
In a since-deleted post on his Instagram, Fiasco announced that he will be releasing Lost in the Atlantic soon with the lead single "Lillies" to hold his dedicated fans over until Atlantic released Tetsuo & Youth.
"ATLANTIC RECORDS won't release the album until they get a "pop" single...so putting together a mini-project while they find one for me. It's called "Lost In The Atlantic Ocean" with a bunch of my friends to stay active and happy...this a snippet called "Lilies" feat Sirah produced by The Buchannons...finishing today...: Fiasco wrote, according to Hot New Hip-Hop.
The tape's release date has yet to be confirmed, and with a new release date, it's unconfirmed whether or not Lost in the Atlantic will even be released.
