Last night's episode of CONAN was a pretty epic one –– not just because of guests Alan Cumming, Casey Wilson and Pentatonix, but also because Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry sat in with host Conan O'Brien's Basic Cable Band throughout the entire episode.
O'Brien introduced the iconic musician towards the top of the show, and over the course of the hour-long program Perry succeeded in rocking up the BCB's already stellar sound.
After sitting in with the band, Perry stopped over to sit beside O'Brien and have a little discussion about his new memoir, Rocks: My Life in and out of Aerosmith. During the interview, the TBS host touched on one section of the book in which Perry was forced to sell his favorite guitar – his 1959 Les Paul, the very guitar he used on a number of classic songs – due to the band falling on hard times following years of immense success.
Luckily, as time went on and Aerosmith began to find more success, Perry found himself in search for his long-lost guitar. So, who had it? Oddly enough... Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash.
After a number of phone calls (many of which were ignored, apparently), Perry was yet again reunited with his Les Paul at his 50th birthday party when Slash offered it up as a gift. "His heart is so big I don't know how it fits into his chest," Perry said of the musician.
