It's been reported that the childhood home of famed guitarist for The Beatles, George Harrison, has sold for over $250,000 during an auction at the Cavern Club. According to the Liverpool Echo, the home went to a Beatles fan who attempted to purchase John Lennon's home last year. Sadly, that one didn't work out.
Located at 25 Upton Green, the Harrison home was the rehearsal space for the guitarist along with his young friends, Lennon and Paul McCartney, who at the time were unknown, struggling musicians. The trio would rehearse in the three-bedroom house before they joined up with drummer Ringo Starr and became THE Beatles –– the ones who would soon change music forever.
So, who paid over $250,000 for the house? The lucky bidder was Jackie Holmes, who hails from London. The Beatles fanatic told the Echo: "I'm absolutely thrilled. This was the house where the Beatles rehearsed and now I own it. I missed out on John Lennon's house last year, so this is just a dream come true."
After hearing that, we can't help but wonder just how much money does this woman have?
Finances aside, Holmes admitted she may very well move to Liverpool after purchasing the house. After all, can you blame her? It'll be a lot easier giving people directions in the future. Instead of battling through street names and such it's much simpler saying, "Oh, it's George Harrison's old house. Look it up."
The aforementioned childhood home of John Lennon, which Holmes missed out on, was sold for $770,000 back in October, according to The Hollywood Reporter. So, that just leaves McCartney and Starr's childhood homes. Any takers?
