Downloads Roundup: Katy Perry's 'Roar' Keeps Top Spot, Miley Cyrus's 'Wrecking Ball' Drops, and Lorde Makes A Big Jump

Katy Perry ruled the Billboard digital singles roost again last week, as her recent smash "Roar" was the most downloaded song for the fourth time in a row. Did Miley Cyrus see a jump in "Wrecking Ball" downloads thanks to her record-breaking music video? One fresh face made a huge jump forward, and a few big names did their best to hold ground.

STAYING PUT

When you've been no. 1 for four straight weeks, there's no shame in staying put. "Roar" added another 373,000 downloads and refused to let up. The only other artist to maintain the same sales position as last week was Jay Z, who stuck at no. 7 with 159,000 downloads sold for "Holy Grail."

MOVING UP

Europe saw the biggest boost in singles sales this week. Lorde, the New Zealand up-and-comer with the voice of Adele and the attitude of Lana Del Rey, jumped from no. 8 to no. 2 with her heatseeking single "Royals." Swedish producer Avicii's "Wake Me Up" snapped back awake, making its way back up to no. 3 from no. 6 last week. Speaking of Del Rey, the vocalist reentered the Top 10 with her single "Summertime Sadness," (costarring Cedric Gervais) coming in at no. 8. Drake rose one spot to no. 9 with the single "Hold On, We're Going Home."

HEADING DOWN

Two of the biggest names in the Top 10, Eminem and Lady Gaga, both dropped two places. Eminem dropped to no. 4 after new single "Berzerk" dropped nearly 50 percent in sales despite the Monday debut of his new video. Gaga has been hovering around the middle of the list for the last few weeks, and "Applause" seems to be finding a consistent sales number. Robin Thicke and "Blurred Lines" is also performing consistently at no. 5, although his single has been out much longer. And, Miley Cyrus, despite breaking the record for most views in a 24-hour period for her "Wrecking Ball" video, dropped to no. 10. Guess that means no leakage of the track list for the deluxe edition of "Bangerz."
